Before you register, review all the details on this page and be sure to review the list of classes.
If you would like to receive information on Grandparents University 2010, email your name, address, graduation year and let us know you would like to be added to the mailing list: gpu@msu.edu.
Registration for the Grandparents University 2010 will open at 10:00am on Thursday, December 10, 2009. Registration will only be available online and you are encouraged to review all the details on the website prior to starting your registration.
The Class List for 2010 is now avaialble, so you can begin to determine your preferred choices for registration.
Note: additional classes may be added after this date, so you may want to check back again closer to December 10, 2009.
Registration Details
Grandparents University program is funded by the registration fees paid by participants. As such, we determine the feasibility of conducting the program on a year-to-year basis and we will not know if we can do the program and the dates for the program until late fall.
Paid registration includes:
- Admission to Grandparents University classes and class materials;
- 2 nights lodging in Holmes Hall;
- Meals in the Holmes Hall cafeteria. Meals included are: Wednesday lunch and dinner; Thursday breakfast, lunch and dinner; and Friday breakfast and lunch.
- Buses to select locations; and
- A certificate of participation.
A maximum number of participants can be accommodated for this entire event. Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Once we have reached capacity, registration will be closed and a waiting list will be established. Participation in previous programs does not guarantee a space.

MSUAA Membership MSU Alumni Association (MSUAA) members will receive a $45 discount per adult attendee. Since an MSUAA membership is only $45 per year, this is a great time to join and show your Spartan spirit! Annual joint and life memberships also available. You don't need to be an MSU alumnus to join – all Spartan fans and friends are welcome. |
Adult/Child Requirement
Children attending Grandparents University must be accompanied by an adult at all times. No more than 2 children can be accompanied by 1 adult. If 2 children attend with 1 adult, they must all attend the same classes. If 2 children attend with 2 adults, each adult/child pair may attend a different class. Similarly, no more than 2 adults may accompany 1 child. If you have multiple adults and children participating, please use the notes field to make it clear which grouping of family members will be attending each set of classes.
Required Contact Information
There are several pieces of information needed for registration and we strongly encourage you to obtain this prior to starting registration. In addition to names and contact information for those attending, you will also need the names, email, phone and mailing address of the child's parent or legal guardian. All communication is done by email, so you'll need to have an email for the adult participating as well as the child's parent/guardian. You'll also need the age of the child (at the time of Grandparents University 2010) and t-shirt sizes for all participants. Once you're registered, each participant must sign and complete several release forms.
Cancellation Policy
If individuals need to cancel, a request for a full refund must be made in writing no later than 5:00pm on ?????. We will be unable to issue any refunds after this date since we will have already incurred a majority of the costs for Grandparents University. As a self-funded program, we cannot use public university dollars, and therefore refunds are not possible after the date ntoed above. Please consider this carefully when registering.

A limited number of scholarships were available for families to participate in Grandparents University 2009.
